Importing References from a Manuscript (Traveling Library)

It is possible to export EndNote-references in a Word manuscript to an EndNote library. This is useful if your library is lost or corrupted, or if you have received a manuscript from someone else with useful references that you would like to add to your library. This feature is called "Traveling Library".

NB! It is not possible to export  EndNote references from a manuscript if the EndNote codes are removed (i.e. citations and the reference list is just text).

Open EndNote.

1. Choose "Export to EndNote" from the EndNote menu in Word and then "Export Traveling Library". If you are a Mac-user, choose "Tools" to find this feature.

2. In the next window you have to decide if the references should be exported to an existing EndNote library that is open in EndNote or if a new library should be created for the exported references. If you choose the latter alternative, you must choose the location for the new library and a library name.

3. A confirmation window will be displayed when the import is complete.
