User guide for the reference management software EndNote.

The EndNote Menu in Word

When EndNote is installed on your computer, an EndNote menu should be added to the main menu in Word. It is the "Cite While You Write" functions in this tab menu which are used by you to search and/or insert citations into your text, edit citations for inserting page numbers etc., and to format the citations and the reference list in a particular style. Contact the library of you do not have the EndNote menu after installation or it disappear later. 

An overview of the main functions in the EndNote menu in Word:

1. Search and insert a source into the text. The button has a drop down menu where it is possible to insert sources that you have previously chosen in your library.

2. Remove or edit sources in the text (citations).

3. The style used at them moment and the possibility to change style.

4. Activate an update of the citations and the reference list after you have done changes in some of the references in your library.

5. Unformat citations in the text or remove EndNote codes from the manuscript.

6. Decide if sources inserted should be automatically formatted or not.

7. Layout alternatives for citations and reference list.

8. Settings and configuration.
